How The Hell Do You Become A Blogger?

How The Hell Do You Become A Blogger?
Carly Jacobs
T

his is a question that bloggers get asked all the time. The thing with blogging success is that it looks totally accidental and luck based, when in actual fact it rarely is. When I started blogging back in 2007 I didn’t have a freaking clue what I was doing which incidentally has made me a fairly decent blogger. If there’s a thing you can do wrong on the internet, I’ve done it. Consider me your Internet Crash Test Dummy. I’ve made all the mistakes so you don’t have to!

After running a super successful (and bloody good fun!) Blogonomics workshop in Canberra last year at The Maker’s Hub (pictured above – adorbs right?) I grabbed my mate Christina from Hair Romance and asked her if she’d like to be my blogging wife and run some workshops together and she said yes so we started Little Blog Big and it’s been out of control amazing so far.

We’ve now run workshops in Melbourne in March 2015…

and October 2015…

Sydney in April…

and Adelaide in June…

And we’ve got three workshops coming up in November 2015 –

Saturday 7th November in Brisbane with our special guest presenter Nikki Parkinson-Hubbard from Styling You

Saturday 14th November in Canberra at WOTSO Workspace

Saturday 28th November in Sydney at WOTSO WorkspaceΒ

If you’re frustrated by your blogging or small business journey, we can totally empathise.Β Feeling burned out.Β Disillusioned.Β Wondering how the hell other bloggers and business owners have the time to do all the stuff they do.

Wanting to find your own road map.

We have GPS, darlings… hitch a ride with us! This workshop is a must-attend for any blogger, small business owner or solo creative who finds the internet and social media a bit scary. We can totally get you on the right track. Promise. Book now – you never have to apologise for investing in yourself and your business.

Are you a blogger or small business owner? Leave a link to your blog in the comments – I’d love to pop over and say hello!

[divider type=”standard” width=”1/1″ el_position=”first last”]

Research has shown that people who subscribe to theΒ Smaggle newsletterΒ and likeΒ Smags on FacebookΒ are, on average at least 32% better looking than people who don’t. You can’t argue with questionable science like that.

We actually in discussion about this – we want to run a host program where if there are bloggers in smaller cities who want us to come, if they can rustle up 50 people we’ll be there! Obviously more than happy to come to Canberra! πŸ™‚

So I saw this and thought…..hmmmmm I love that blog, maybe I should attend that workshop. I wonder if it’s geographically feasible?
    So Toronto to Melbourne.
Workshop & headshot $279, airfare and accommodation $4,000.
    Might be doable.

We were actually thinking we could do Newcastle – we’ll go anywhere where people can rustle up 50 attendees!

There are quite a few bloggers up here. The lads at Newcastle Mirage held a blogger meet and greet last year, so they will probably have the contact list. I can find out if you like.

This is exactly the kind of workshop I would love to attend. I’m a relatively new blogger and I blog mostly about crafty things but I have lots of other stuff going on as well. I actually have a workshop space in the little hinterland village I live in and it is gorgeous. I’m looking at hiring it out, so if you’re ever inclined to visit the Noosa hinterland …. Anyway my blog is : http://www.sewcraftygoodness.com.au/blog/

Wow, I’m new to smaggle. Found you through webinar with Secret Bloggers Business, and you two are rockstars. You pump out so much content! I love writing, and am new to blogging. It’s just once component of my business, but one I’m really enjoying (maybe that means I’m not officially a “blogger” ha!). Looking forward to exploring your work further. http://www.sagebhobbs.com/blog/

I met Christina from Hair Romance last night and she told me about you and the workshop you’re running shortly. I really hope to come along and absorb all the blogginess you can throw at us. I’ve only been blogging for a few months so still a newbie but I’m really keen to see what I can do with it and where it will lead me. πŸ™‚

Just spent 9 months travelling in Thailand and returned to Poland for a ‘touch base’ before hopefully setting off to South America – maybe it should be back the other way to OZ to get some help and advice with my blog! You certainly exude a ‘buzz’.

We won’t be doing any more workshops until at least the end of next year – they take so much planning! Come to the Sydney one – the location is amazing and you can just fly in the for the day. Totally worth it, I promise – and if you book your plane flights now they won’t even be very exxy. x
