Yeah… So it’s all a bit weird and wonderful. My beautiful friend Eden very kindly (and unbelievably) put me forward for a blogger trip to India with World Vision (and quite surprisingly they were willing to take me!) so in just three weeks I’m on a plane to New Delhi with Eden from Edenland, Kelly from Be a Fun Mum, Mischo Baranovic and the gorgeous Joy from World Vision.
I’m incredibly humbled and excited to be given such an amazing opportunity. Yesterday I met with our trip organiser Joy and the World Vision media whiz Janet to get a briefing on my trip. The whole point is for us to go and visit their projects in India and share our experiences with you guys. My main areas of focus will be child labour, children living in poverty and women’s rights. I cannot believe how well they managed to set me up with issues that are so close to my heart and I can’t wait to learn more about the projects and share them with you.Β
I’m going to get a little soppy on you here for a minute and tell you all how much I love you. My readers are my world and you guys are awesome. Intelligent, respectful, hilarious. I’m so excited and nervous and grateful and it’s all because of you guys. You had me at hello.
If you have any genius ideas for structured coverage of the trip, I’d love to hear about it.
At the moment I’m all ‘MIMED INTERVIEWS IN THE DARK! INTERPRETIVE DANCE FUNDRAISING VLOGS! THE WORLD’S LONGEST HANDSHAKE!’Β I’ve kind of lost the plot a bit.
Love you.

Oh no! I’ll try hard not to get too sad on you. x

Don’t fret, I meant cry in that I’m a sook and any story involving kids will set me off. It is great to see how women and children that were in hopeless situation are given the tools (education, practical support, micro loans), to lift themselves out of poverty.

When I first read this my thoughts were – shouldn’t they be spending the money on helping people rather than blogger holidays but then realised it’s probably a very low cost way for them to get attention for these issues.
Enjoy your trip. My sister recently went to India and loved it.

Honestly, I thought the same thing but my mate Eden went to Africa last year and I was completely sold. I’ll make the investment worth it for them. I promise. x

Yay! Looking forward to living through you vicariously! Hope you have a lovely time and take all of the necessary precautions…and that you manage to magically avoid getting the runs…which I’ve heard is quite a challenge for those travelling in India!

A brilliant way for World Vision to reach out to your audience, and with something you care deeply about = perfect. Cannot wait to vicariously learn with you, and have my eyes opened a little bit more about these issues!

This is so great, what an amazing opportunity. I would love to see profiles of the people you meet. Local people, people from World Vision, anyone. I think putting a face to a cause is always a good way for it to really hit home. Congrats!

That’s hilarious because profiles is what we’re currently discussing will be my medium while I’m over there! There’s a back to school project they want me on next year too where we profile students in different countries.

Great opportunity for you and all of us that support World Vision and want to see women and children to have their rightful place in the world.
I was in India four years ago visiting a friend and despite the poverty and chaos what struck me was the industriousness of the people and their vibrancy.
I would take your place in a blink of an eye to have this experience to make a difference-
