Christmas Style Tips 1

Christmas is less than two weeks away. Holy crap. Freak out, much? I know everyone is ridiculously busy but here is a list of things you should be doing to prepare yourself for Christmas day…

* Coating yourself in sunscreen and aeroguard – If your Christmas day is spent relaxing by the pool in the Australian sunshine then this tip is a must. It’s my summer resolution to be smooth, pale and blemish free on Christmas day. This means no mossie bites, sun burns or fake tans. Unfortunately mossies LOVE me. And I scratch the bejesus out of the bites. Lets see how well I can stick to this summer resolution…

* Exfoliate every second day – This will slowly work off that hideous dry skin you’ve accumulated over winter. Don’t forget to moisturise at night before you get into bed. Delicious!

* Grow your hair like mofo– Not the hair on your head. The hair you get in other places. Leave any depilatory activity for Christmas Eve so you are smooth on Christmas day. This also gives your skin a chance to settle down if you wax.

* Eat well and exercise– I think we’ve all come to terms with the fact that we aren’t going to lose any weight before Christmas. But the best thing you can do is to continue to eat well (in between office Christmas parties and ferrero rochers) and exercise. Why? Because even if you don’t see results before Christmas you will feel SO MUCH BETTER in your swimmers on Christmas day. Trust me it will be worth it.

* Finish your Christmas shopping – I know it’s two weeks until Christmas but it’s such a relief to have your Christmas shopping out of the way nice and early. I have all but a few of my presents already wrapped and under the tree. And I’m so excited that I don’t have to do a mercy dash to the mall a few days before Christmas and fight with stressed out mothers for car-parks and wrapping paper. Also I won’t have to listen to that awful John Farnham Christmas cd that they play in David Jones in December. Actually I believe Mama Smaggle owns it.. hmmmm… mental note. Destroy fake-merriment inducing Johnny cd with the horrifying rendition of The Little Drummer Boy that is sung like a creepy serenade. And also finish Christmas shopping this weekend to avoid Psycho Mum Land on Christmas Eve.

* Start thinking about what to wear on Christmas day – I think Christmas day is a fabulous opportunity to get all dressed up. But one must be practical. I know that on Christmas day I am going to be playing volleyball with my cousins, swimming in the pool, drink gin and tonics and dancing on my aunty and uncle’s deck. Obviously a sparkly party dress and heels are out. I’m thinking some form of gorgeous summer dress with strappy sandals and some natural accessories like wooden bangles. I am also thinking that I am going to be running around all day and in and out of the pool so sans make up is the go. I will also be wearing sunglasses all day so it would be a bit of waste to go all Napolean only to have my handy work covered up for the day.

I do hope everyone is happy and healthy in the lead up to Christmas. Just rememeber to take care of yourself. Drink plenty of water, get plenty of sleep, cleanse your face every day and for god’s sake moisturise woman!
