really can’t complain about the weather in Melbourne because I choose to live here. Most of the time I love it but I admit it does get tiresome carrying around a jacket, umbrella, rain coat and full diving suit every day because Melbourne can go from tropical-pool-party weather to bunker-down-for-the-snow-storm in matter of minutes. I usually combat this by layering. My biggest tip I can give you is to make sure your bottom layer stands alone. I once wore this dress with a nude, thick strapped slip under it and it was not a pretty sight when I took my cardigan off in the afternoon. I always make sure I can strip down enough to handle 30 degrees because Melbourne has consistency issues.
Wearing
Dress from a weird shop on Moonee Ponds about 7 years ago. This dress is so old but I cannot get rid of it because it’s too comfy. It’s also all soft and delicious like an vintage t-shirt that’s been washed too many times
Cardigan from Anthroplogie
Sandals from Freya and Sabine – these things are so comfortable
Rings from Thailand, Bali and India
Dinosaur Designs earrings from Mama Smaggle a few Christmases ago
Coin necklace was a gift from my grandfather
This outfit was worn for a stroll to the city on a sunny afternoon. Mr Smaggle and I have been crazy busy on weekends this year so if we manage to grab an afternoon off we always go for a walk and grab a coffee. He’ll buy some kind of camera gadget, I’ll buy some yarn and we’ll go home and drink tea and do our hobbies all afternoon. We are such early on-set retirees. Love it. And yes you totally caught me – I’m not in Melbourne I’m actually in LA, but I didn’t get a chance to post this while I was still in Oz so here it is!
What’s your fail safe way of dealing with weird weather when you get dressed? Where do you even live? Tell me more about that please.
