Very Excellent Habits

How to Wear Head to Toe Black Without Looking Like You’re in Mourning.

* Black maxi dress from Metalicus (note to the designers at Metalicus I will ALWAYS buy any maxi dress from your brand because I’m tall and they are long, so thank you!) * Leather belt from that weird accessories shop in Manuka in Canberra * Shoes are Pedro Laurenco from Melissa (I’ve had my eye on these for about a year and they finally went on sale! Bonza!) * Cropped mini blazer from Jacqui E

Play With Your Silhouette

The structured shoulders of this mini cropped blazer create a nice bit of noise in the top half of my outfit. If you wear head to toe black it’s easy to look dull but if you wear a voluminous bubble skirt or a ruffled blouse it will add an element of interest where you’re lacking in colour.

Add A Muddy Splice of Colour

I’ve thrown a very dark green belt over this black outfit to give it a teeny little lift. If the belt was bright blue or orange it would create too much of a contrast. Let a dark coloured accessory blend into your outfit but still give it a little boost of light.

Show Some Unexpected Skin

With bare feet, bare arms and little patches of bare skin visible at my shoulders, I’ve created some interesting lines and patterns in an all black ensemble. Bare skin doesn’t always mean legs and chest. Experiment with some other areas for a classy take on showing a little skin.

This outfit was worn for a super quick jog to the post office to lodge my passport renewal and then for a delicious soup lunch with my beloved. I’m in Sydney today for a meeting and then tonight it’s back to Melbourne to tackle my ever growing list of article deadlines. I totally over committed myself this week. Wish me luck!

What are you up to this week? And what are you wearing?
