Very Excellent Habits

The Top 5 Habits Of Lucky People

I really love the idea of luck. However, I don’t believe that it’s pre-determined for random people. I much prefer the idea that you can create your own luck. Although to be honest, I’m not a huge fan of the all the manifesting and crystal rubbing that comes with the concept of creating your own luck. I love a positive affirmation as much as the next person and while I know that chanting a daily intention is valuable for improving my mood and motivation, I also know that the message is unlikely to enter the subconscious of the magazine editor I’m trying to impress or the director I just auditioned for.

Sitting around willing something good to happen is like going to a restaurant and trying to telepathically order my dinner. It’s just not logical. I like to focus on the practical steps I can take to make myself more lucky and create opportunities in my life through hard work and actionable tasks. I’ve been pondering the concept luck this week and I’ve come up with a list of the top 5 habits of lucky people. I hope they’ll help you attract lots of good things like perfect coffees, fulfilling careers, perky butt cheeks and Benedict Cumberbatches (or Ryan Goslings/Scarlett Johanssons if you’re so inclined). Here’s what lucky people do…

They give luck a chance

Lucky people know that they’ll never win the prize if they don’t play the game. They’ll never get their dream job if they don’t apply for it, they’ll never get to play in a band if they don’t audition and they’ll never publish a book if they don’t write one. Lucky people know they’ve got to be in it, to win and they’re always in it. Unlucky people watch the game, waiting to be invited on to the field.

They never waste an opportunity

Once a lucky person gets a ‘lucky break’ they ride that opportunity like a baby monkey on a pig. Lucky people know that they have to keep moving to stay ahead and to keep luck on their side. An unlucky person would take a job promotion as an opportunity to slack off a bit at work and take it easy. A lucky person would throw themselves into the role and would probably get promoted again soon after.

They’re persistent

If the front door is closed, an unlucky person walks away. A lucky person tries to find an open window, a back door or a crack in the wall to get inside.

They know when to let go

A lucky person knows when they’re flogging a dead horse and they redirect their energy to other endeavors that are bound to pay off. Unlucky people stick around and complain about how their horse is dead.

They take calculated risks

Lucky people weigh up the risks and consequences and make decisions based on viable outcomes. Unlucky people are easily confused because they don’t spend enough time preparing and researching before risks are presented to them.
