How To Not Get Sucked In By Self Improvement Fads

I

‘ll admit it. I’m a total sucker for anything self improvement related. If someone has a product/food item/questionable vitamin supplement they claim will help me be a better human, I’m like ‘SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!’

I’ve tried almost everything. Every diet, app, tea, potion, fitness class, face cream and mindfulness activity. It’s not because I hate myself and I think I’m loser it’s because if there’s something I could be doing to improve my productivity or wellbeing, I want to be doing it.

That’s really what Smaggle is all about – being the star of your own life and figuring out what works for you. That’s why my mate Kelly and I decided to team up to start a podcast about that very thing. Last week we launched Straight and Curly – a podcast for self improvement junkies. Each week we try a life hack like eating 5 cups of vegetables every day or keeping a gratitude journal. Then we report on our findings and tell you whether you should try it or whether it’s a giant waste of your time.

If you don’t know how to listen to podcasts don’t fret – here are a few tips.

iPhone users

Open up the podcast app on your phone (it already lives there so you don’t need to download it) and search for Straight and Curly. Then hit subscribe and you’re good to go.

Android users

The same as iPhone users but you just use the Android podcast app.

Desktop users

You can listen to it while you work at your computer – just click this link here. https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/straight-and-curly/id1073392563?mt=2

Last week was launch week so we released 5 episodes in same week. Don’t stress though – we’re bringing it back to 1 episode per week starting this week. In case you’re keen to catch up, here’s the first six episodes.

and today’s episode is about going for a full month without alcohol.

The support we’ve had from our readers so far has been incredible – we made it to New and Noteworthy within a few days and this week we outranked There’s No Such Thing As A Fish, Death, Sex and Money and Bill Maher. I actually felt like I was lying right then, but I promise you I’m not. I’m loving this podcasting thing sick. If you’re a long term reader of Smaggle, I’d love for you to become a listener. Just a warning though – I said ‘shit’ in one of the episodes already so technically we’re ‘explicit’. Sorry about that Kelly.
