How To Rock A Backpack Without Looking Like a 9 Year Old

I’ve been on the look out for a stylish backpack for years. Ever since I saw this photo on The Sartorialist.

I mean I could try a thousand life times and I will never be as cool as that chick but after seeing this photo I thought I might just be able to pull off a backpack without looking like a tourist or someone who plays Warhammer, which is really the main concern right? The problem was I could never find one that I liked. I wanted a slim line backpack that could fit my laptop and a few essentials and didn’t look like it was filled with Troll Dolls and Beanie Babies.

I then found the holy grail of backpacks. It’s from a company called Cote&Ciel and this backpack is the stuff dreams are made of. It’s slim, stylish, beautifully made and fits all the essentials that I constantly lug around in heavy leather shoulder bags. The criteria for the perfect non-dorky backpack is simple – it must be streamlined, free from obvious branding, fairly neutral in colour and non-gimicky. Here’s my backpack short list.

(…but I actually bought mine on eBay)

The Herschel Survey Backpack

Baggu Backpack

Soft Leather Backpack

…and then there’s the Gucci Backpack

Would you ever consider using a backpack?

Or does the very thought of it give you nightmares of mouldy sandwiches and forgotten excursion notes?
