Retail Recommendation: My New Favorite Clothing Store

What delicious rainy weather we’re having in Melbourne! I just got back from a 5 day detox in Bali with Luxury Retreats Bali (stay tuned for my review next week!) and I’m feeling incredible. It’s the most relaxed and focussed I’ve felt in years. Namaste!

First up on my agenda when I got back was a trip to the post office to pick up a dry body brush and some scented candles I ordered. Before I went away for the detox I started doing Barre Body’s Body Love Bootcamp, which follows a lot of the same principals as the Luxury Retreats Detox. Lots of natural foods, yoga, meditation, natural products and basically trying to eliminate toxins from your life as much as possible. I’m really loving all the funny little rituals like dry body brushing and meditation breaks, it’s the perfect balancing element for a twitchy type A like myself!

I very recently discovered Religion Clothing and it was love at first sight. However Religion can be unpredictable. Like that bad boy you had a crush on in highschool who’d write you love poetry and then ignore you on the bus the next day. When I was in Singapore in January, I walked past a mannequin that was wearing this cardigan and I kind of walked towards it in a daze and slipped into it. It was $250 though which I thought was quite expensive for a cardigan. I hung it back on the rack, spent the rest of the day thinking about it, then decided that I would die without it in my life and went back and bought it.

Then when I was in Bali this week, I discovered a giant Religion store right in the middle of Seminyak. I was equally gutted and thrilled to discover that Religion in Bali is about a third the price that it is in Singapore. Which means that I found my beloved cardigan that I had only just purchased 4 months ago with a price tag of $90. RAGE! However I had to remind myself that if I had not discovered Religion in Singapore, I would never have even thought about going into the Bali store. Silver linings people, silver linings. I stocked up on a few dresses because buying Religion stuff online is almost impossible because their sizes are totally out of whack. For instance the cardigan I’m wearing is a size 8. I’m not even kidding, you could fit a family of four in it. The dress I’m wearing is a 12 and I’m almost always a 14. I’ve also tried on size 14 stuff and it’s been TINY. Another weird thing about Religion is that their prints are outstanding but then sometimes they’ll do something stupid like hide a few skulls or random words like ‘East’ and ‘Jesus’ into the pattern. You’ve really got watch them on that. Apart from that, most things are made from natural fibres and the cuts are just amazing. The price also rocks if you buy in Bali – I got three dresses and a jumper for $180. Bargain.

What clothing stores are you loving right now? Any tips on how to shop there?
