f you’re a total 90s tragic I’m hoping you’ve jumped on board with Sweet Teen Club. It’s a podcast by my mate Stacey Veggie Mama and I and it’s all about 90s pop culture – Sweet Valley High, Babysitters Club, butterfly hair clips, Impulse body spray, Heathers and Blossom. We debuted with 5 episodes about Sweet Valley High last week and this week we’ve taken a bit of a break and we’re deconstructing the cinematic masterpiece that is Clueless. To commemorate this momentous movie I’ve popped together a few facts about this 90s darling of a movie.
1. Alicia Silverstone pronounces her name ‘Ah-lee-see-ya’ not ‘Ah-lee-sha’.
2. When Brittany Murphy said the line ‘You’re a virgin who can’t drive!’ – she actually was a virgin who couldn’t drive.
3. The director of the movie Amy Heckerling makes a cameo as one of Ms Geists bridesmaids.
4. The name of the actress of plays Ms Geist is Twink Caplan.
5. Reese Witherspoon auditioned for the part of Cher
Also I’ve done some sleuthing and I think Brecken Meyer (the guy who plays Travis) may well have dated someone very famous in high school… *cliff hanger*
