Very Excellent Habits

Let’s Take A Little Break…

S

ometimes it’s really nice when you’re feeling a bit out of control to just take a moment to look around and see what’s going on. I’m naturally a very fomo (fear of missing out) type of person so I don’t often sit quietly and ponder things. I don’t do it naturally so I sometimes have to force/remind myself to stop doing things and start looking at things. So today I thought I’d take stock…

Making : A scrappy crochet blanket. I’m using all my left over balls of yarn to make a colourful throw. I love it because I’m using all the leftovers from baby blankets and wedding blankets I designed for people I love so it’s just a very warm and fuzzy blanket project full of all the feels.

Cooking : Donna Hay’s Chorizo bolognese. Oh my god so good.

Drinking : Red wine. It’s lovely coming back from a European summer to a Melbourne winter and getting to drink lovely red wine again.

Reading: Miss Peregrin’s Home For Peculiar Children – I’m liking it.

Wanting: This coat from Marrimekko. I saw a girl in Denmark wearing it and now I want it to be mine.

Looking: A little worse for wear at the moment – severe jet lag will do that to you!

Deciding: To say no to more stuff. I always talk about doing it but I never do. I’m being strong. Must resist the urge to be involved in all the things.

Wishing: I could have a proper holiday – I know I just got back from Europe but I worked the whole time and Mr Smaggle’s idea of a holiday is to see as much stuff as humanly possible. I’d love to sit by a pool and read a book – something I’ve never managed to do on a holiday ever. Sigh!

Enjoying: Mineral water. I developed a taste for it in Italy and now it’s just a daily thing.

Waiting: For my Molla Mills Crocheterie to arrive. I can’t wait. It’s a book full of crochet ideas for men. I’m so excited.

Liking: Being home. It’s very lovely here in Melbourne.

Wondering: When this jet lag is going to bugger off. It’s been a week now. We’re done here. I don’t need to be awake at 4am every day. There’s literally nothing happening at 4am.

Loving: Stranger Things. Binged watched it like a mofo on the weekend. No regrets.

Pondering: How I ever survived without noise cancelling headphones. For real. They’re life changing. Long haul flights are a pleasure now.

Listening: To Straight and Curly podcast and being totally furious at myself every time I say ‘um’.

Considering: Moving to Copenhagen. Seriously that place stole my heart.

Buying: Mozzarella cheese.

Watching: The Katering Show. Those girls are out of control hilarious. I belly laugh every time I watch them.

Hoping: To get my regular sleep patterns back soon – these 4am was ups are killing me.

Marvelling: At Mr Smaggle. We travel together so well and our life is very, very lovely. He’s a special human.

Cringing: At climate change deniers. Even if we’re wrong about climate change, what’s the harm in reducing our environmental footprint on the planet? It’s just all a bit silly isn’t it?

Needing: New underwear. I’m pretty sure I wrote this in my last taking stock and I still haven’t bought any new underwear. I just hate underwear shopping so badly. Hate it.

Questioning: Why so much money is poured into sport in Australia. I like sport and I think it’s important but so is science, literature and art. It’s just a bit weird don’t you think?

Smelling: Coffee!

Wearing: A long grey maxi dress, handmade crochet cardigan, glasses and bright link lippy.

Following: @mollamills on Instagram. My favourite crocheter.

Noticing: What an old lady I’m becoming and I’m kind of love it. Couch, tea and crochet. Party on.

Disliking: This little scratchy feeling I’ve got in my throat – go away! I had a flu shot this year. I’m not supposed to get sick.

Opening: Mail! So much mail… most of it boring unfortunately.

Giggling: With bestie. I missed her very much while I was away.

Hearing: Bonobo Black Sands – perfect music for writers because there’s no lyrics!

Celebrating: Almost ten years of blogging at Smaggle – where did the time go?

Forgetting: That it’s almost my birthday soon! What should I do to celebrate?

Pretending: That I’m not tired… when I’m so, so tired.

Embracing: My tiredness… with a little pre-gym nap.

Here’s a blank one for you to use. This little list comes from Pip Lincolne of Meet Me At Mike’s. She’s totally cool for you to use it too just make sure you credit her.
