Very Excellent Habits

Lady’s back with Dangar Island antics.

I’m back with my liver (barely) intact and with way less mossie bites than I had anticipated. Here is how the weekend went down.

On Friday I…

* Ate the best eggs benedict ever.

* Got hideously lost on the way and ended up driving right in to the CBD of Sydney instead of past it. No one died and I didn’t cry so I think it turned out quite well.

* Saw Dangar Island for the first time. It’s an amazing little island with no cars or shops and you can only get there by ferry. It’s spectacular. Our friend Na’s grandma owns a house there with river views.

* Ate dinner at the Dangar Island bowls club where all the locals stared at us and rumour went around that we were there for a hen’s weekend. This resulted in an old man kissing the bride to be. Fabulous.

* Drank heaps of gin on the balcony and talked about girly crap until the wee small hours.

On Saturday I…

* Dragged my hungover self out of bed and allowed Ted (my fellow bridesmaid and gym buddy) to bully me into going for a jog.

* Made porridge with dried fruit and honey.

* Played Trivial Pursuit. For three hours.

* Made a pasta bake and birthday cake.

* Gave everyone manicures.

* Played Pass the Parcel and a few other naughty bridesmaids games.

* Wore a g-string on my head.

* Drank heaps of gin on the balcony and talked girly crap until the wee small hours.

On Sunday I…

* Tried really hard to ignore the massive pile of glossy magazines in front of me and tried to learn my lines for my play. It didn’t work.

* Took a trip to the main land to get tonic water and snacks. We also bought hot chips with vinegar and scoffed the lot on the way back to Dangar.

* Starting drinking again at midday.

* Played board games and drank red wine.

* Drank heaps of gin on the balcony and talked girly crap until the wee small hours.

I arrived home yesterday afternoon in just enough time to go to my rehearsal. I’m exhausted but feeling very relaxed. Here are some pictures of the weekend.

Ted, Lady and Na.

The dock at Brooklyn where the Dangar Island ferry leaves.

The ferry on the way to the island stocked with far too much food for seven ladies for just four days.

The Dangar Island bowls club. Seriously this island is TINY.

Na’s Grandma’s house where we stayed.

Lady Smaggle with awesome humidity hair. I love a sticky climate.

Sarah and Na on the balcony drinking wine.

A house with a turret. I had to take a photo because it looks like Harry Potter lives there.

Our last breakfast on Dangar Island.

Lady, Ted and Steph – bridesmaids and bride.

Lady and her bride…

Needless to say we are all drying out until the wedding in November. We’re embracing Oct-sober.

How was everyone else’s weekend?

Love Lady Smaggle
