How To Wear A Frilly Pink Dress Without Looking Like A Child

W

eird little fact about me – I used to wear pink pretty much every day. Weird right? I then went through this phase where I thought wearing pink all the time made me look immature but now I’m a grown up, I just don’t have the time to over think my clothing choices like I used to. I like pink so I’m bloody well going to wear it… but I’ll take a few precautions so I don’t look like Uni-Kitty threw up on me. I absolutely adore that cute girly look (like my mate Violet Le Beaux – how adorable is she???) but it’s not a look that works for me so here’s how I avoid it while wearing a frilly pink dress.

Wearing

Dress from Boom Shankar (gifted – I’m wearing a size 16 which is a bit big but I suspect a 14 would have been a bit too tight across my boobies so I sized up and belted it!)

Swedish Hasbeens from Amazon

Black sheer shrug from Ebay

Rings and earrings from India, Singapore, Thailand, Bali and Fifth Element

Worn For

A ridiculously steamy day yesterday where I slammed through lots of boring editing work (boo!) so I can spend all of tomorrow working on my own projects (yay!). I also managed to get almost all my work done by 9pm which is practically unheard of and I managed to sneak in a quick half hour jog as well. Top notch day yesterday actually.

Style Notes On How To Wear A Frilly Pink Dress

With Out Looking Like a Child

* Jazz it up a little with black accents – it will steer the look more towards Courtney Love and less towards Katy Perry if that’s your fancy.

* Keep it modest… if this dress was any shorter/lower they’d be carting me off to the Playboy mansion.

* Keep it simple – adding extra frilly bits, bows or more pink will send you straight to the primary school look book. Which is fine… unless that’s what you’re trying to avoid like me!

What are you wearing today? Underwear? Nothing more than a thin layer of mist from a spray bottle? Is anyone in Australia not sweltering their arm pits off today?
