How To Make Your Own Beard Oil DIY

I’m utterly delighted that Mr Smags has grown his beard long. It’s this magnifient thatch of ginger awesomeness and it brings me joy every day. Daddy Smags has also grown an awesome salt and pepper beard this year and Brother Smags is sporting a hairy face too. Most excellent.

It was while I was doing some research on Etsy for gifts for men that I discovered that beard oil is a thing – you rub it into your face mane to keep it all soft and delicious. Most of the beard oils I found for sale were in the states and didn’t ship to Australia so I decided to just make my own! Here’s my how to make your own beard oil DIY!

 Woozy Boy Beard Balm

1 x 50 ml dark glass jar

Coconut oil

1/2 teaspoon almond oil

25 drops of lavender essential oil

1 sticky label

Method – fill your jar almost full with coconut oil and then add the almond oil and 25 drops of lavendar oil. Give it a good stir with a toothpick and if necessary, fill the remainder of the jar with extra coconut oil.

Pepper Pine Beard Oil

1 x 35 ml dark glass dropper bottle

Sweet almond oil

25 drops of cedar essential oil

15 drops of pine essential

Method – fill your dropper bottle 2 thirds with almond oil, add essential oils and give it a good shake. Then top up with almond oil. Note: leave a bit more room at the top than you think… the dropper will add volume to the bottle when you close it so if you over fill it, it will over flow.

Cinna-Bun Beard Tonic

1 x 35 ml dark glass dropper bottle

Sweet almond oil

30 drops of cinnamon beard oil

Method – fill your dropper bottle 2 thirds with almond oil, add essential oils and give it a good shake. Then top up with almond oil. Note: leave a bit more room at the top than you think… the dropper will add volume to the bottle when you close it so if you over fill it, it will over flow.

You can source carrier oils and essential oils at most health food stores and if you’ve been paying attention to any of the huge food movements of the past year you are bound to have a giant jar of coconut oil in your pantry. You can also adjust the amounts of essential oils you use if you prefer a more subtle or stronger scent. It’s a great little gift for the bearded men (or women… let’s not discriminate okay?) in your life.

You can make cute little labels for them too!
