How to look amazing after a work out

The worst thing about working out every day is how bloody long it takes for your appearance to recover afterwards. Personally, I’m red faced and sweaty for at least an hour or two after I’ve finished my workout which is super attractive when I’m sitting opposite a client in a meeting with half my make up melting off my face. Exercise is not negotiable for me, so I’ve come up with a few tricks to make me look less gross in a rush after a workout.

Have a dry shower

If you don’t have time for a full shower lather up, just go with the dry shower option. A quick wipe of your stinky bits with a few baby wipes will tide you over until you have time for a full wash.

Go light on the make up

Don’t bother with a full face of slap. Go for a tinted moisturiser or a redness fighting BB cream. Then dust your face with a little bit of powder to fight the post work out shine. If you must conceal, do it lightly as concelear doesn’t like sweaty skin and tends to slide around your face. Skip the full smokey eye and go with two quick coats of a no fuss mascara. Pop on a tinted lipgloss and you’re fresh-faced and good to go.

Don’t forget your deodorant

A quick spritz of antiperspirant deodorant and a dab of your favourite perfume will have you smelling shower fresh in no time.

Go fuss free with your hair

Give the roots of your hair a quick blast with a hairdryer if you got super sweaty otherwise just spray the roots with dry shampoo and brush your hair into a pony tail. If you have curly hair just give your mane a spritz of dry shampoo and a quick shake and you’re good to go. Alternatively a messy bun is a good post workout option for my curly haired sisters.

Keep a separate beauty kit in your gym bag

There is nothing more frustrating than forgetting your hair brush or deodorant when you go to the gym. Buy two of everything and keep them in a separate make up case and leave it in your gym bag, that way you’ll always have everything you need after your workout.

Lower your standards slightly

You’re never going to look like you’ve just walked out of the hairdresser when you’ve just spent an hour at the gym, so get over it. No one will notice your slightly greasy roots or flushed cheeks. Honestly, the only thing they will notice is your firm butt and that gorgeous exercise glow.
