Very Excellent Habits

How Is Your April Going?

Today I’m taking stock of April. Pip from Meet Me At Mike’s does this every month and it’s such a lovely way to stop and have a think about where you’re at, where you’re going and how you’re feeling about the whole she-bang. Here’s my month… don’t forget to add yours in the comments.

Making: Granny squares! I’ve become quite the crochet addict recently and I’ve been doing at least 2 to 3 squares most evenings.

Cooking: Big batches of soup and vegetable bake for easy weeknight dinners. #futuremesaysthanks times a billion.

Drinking: Tea and Lemsip – I’ve got a horrific cold at the moment and so I’m main-lining sick person drinks like a maniac.

Reading: The Life Changing Art of Tidying Up. Marie Kondo is my spirit animal.

Wanting: Some chocolate actually…

Looking: Forward to the weekend when I get to hang out with Chrissy and teach our workshop. We had to increase our ticket numbers yesterday! So stoked.

Playing: Rayman. I NEVER play computer games but this one is awesome. I can’t make 3D games work but this one is nice and flat like Sonic The Hedgehog. I’m rather good at it to be honest but then I’m good at any game where the aim is to save a cute thing.

Deciding: Which project to focus on! I have three front runners at the moment and they’re all totally different. Must brain storm more.

Wishing: For safety for women everywhere. My heart is so heavy with the tragedy of the last few months.

Enjoying: My evenings – Mr Smaggle and I move to the couch to work at about 6pm and we watch Antiques Roadshow while eating our dinner at pensioner hour. It’s bliss.

Waiting: For my new laptop! I’ve been overdue for a new one for a while now and I can’t wait to start over with a freshie. I’m going to come up with the best damn filing system you’ve ever seen.

Liking: The cooler weather… I’m a bona fide summer hater so the second I can break out the uggs I’m a happy camper.

Wondering: Do pets of famous people know they’re owned by famous people? I feel like Taylor Swift’s cats know. They’d HAVE to know.

Loving: Broad City. ‘I’ve figured out that my eyebrows are sisters… not twins.’

Pondering: Whether or not to hire a (paid) intern. I can almost afford it which is apparently the exact time when you should do it… hmmm…

Considering: Doing a winter bootcamp. I have so much energy in winter I might as well take advantage of it!

Buying: My first pair of Merrells. They are brilliant.

Watching: Better Call Saul and it’s fantastic. I think it’s the only spin off I haven’t hated.

Hoping: My cold totally effs-off by the weekend. It’s looking good so far…

Marvelling: At my beautiful suburb. Every morning Mr Smaggle and I go and get a coffee and it’s just the best place ever. I love Fitzroy.

Cringing: About that time I met my friend’s mother-in-law and I gave her a hug and I thought I was squuezing her elbow but it turned out to be her boob. *facepalm*

Needing: New underwear. The situation is getting dire but I’ve been burnt by the last few pairs I’ve bought so I’m at a bit of a loss. I like giant, nude, seamless, full briefs. Super sexy right? Any recommendations?

Questioning: How anyone can hate corriander. I love the stuff.

Smelling: My clean, clean house. Fresh sheets, freshly vacuumed floor, freshly scrubbed kitchen. I love it when things are clean.

Wearing: Ugg-boots. I don’t do tracksuit pants but I definitely do a soft pant and a sleek, sophisticated black ugg boot.

Following: Crazy Jewish Mom on Instagram. I’m not religious at all but I swear Jewish women seek me out like I’m one of them and it pleases me greatly.

Noticing: That I’m drinking more coffee this week than usual… what’s that about?

Knowing: I’m jumping straight back into #20minutesaday when I start to feel better.

Thinking: About growing my hair long again… I’m in two weddings this year and it just makes styling it so much easier.

Admiring: People being awesome at stuff. Our local barista won an international award and shyly came over to show us his trophy the other day. What a legend. That shit is just so cool.

Sorting: My taxes. ALL. THE. TIME. It’s one of the curses of being a business owner. Drowning in receipts and invoices.

Getting: Better sleep these days! I think it’s all the crochet.

Bookmarking: Nothing really! I tend to read things as I go.

Coveting: Marimekko everything. When I’m a millionaire I will wear Marimekko every day and McQueen every night.

Disliking: Being sick. I never take my health for granted so I get very cranky when I’m sick.

Opening: Packets of porridge! Such a great way to start a chilly day when it gets too cold for smoothies.

Giggling: At Mr Smaggle and his sleep talking. Follow me on Facebook for updates. #sleeptalkingboyfriend

Feeling: Excited about running another Little Blog Big workshop this weekend!

Snacking: On carrot and celery sticks and boiled eggs. I spent Sunday preparing snack packs for the week and it’s been brilliant. I need to do this every week.

Helping: Mr Smaggle not lose the plot. If you know an app developer, give them a hug. They’ve got a big few weeks coming up…

Hearing: Hip hop. It’s the best thing to listen to while writing because I can’t hear the lyrics and they won’t seep into my work!
