How To Rock A Grandpa Cardigan Like A Boss

y fashion sense is all over the shop. I once had a reader describe my style as Minimalist Nimbin Monochrome Gypsy and I think she totally nailed it. There’s a weird ordered chaos in the way I dress – it’s 80% predictable and 20% ‘What the hell???’. I realised long ago that I would never look neat and tidy like Audrey Hepburn so I embrace my permanent state of looking a little bit like I crawled out from under a rock.

Curly haired girls never look totally pulled together and I quite like that – it means I have a bit more freedom with my style. When I first started Smaggle I used to wear a lot of thrifted clothing but I honestly haven’t had the time to go op-shopping in ages. The other day Mr Smaggle and I went on a picnic and I found an epic second hand store on the way to the park. Someone had cleared their cupboards of these great 100% cotton grandpa style cardigans and I snapped them up. I ended up with three of them and I’ve been wearing them to death. They’re perfect for the weird Melbourne weather at the moment and they’re super useful for taking on planes to drape over my legs when I have a snooze… you know so the person sitting next to me doesn’t see my undies if I relax too much in my dress.

This outfit was worn for a day at the Smaggle office working with Secret Blogger’s Business. We have an afternoon tradition of getting what we’ve dubbed a ‘Million Dollar Smoothie’. Basically we buy the smoothie, then we wander around drinking it and coming up with ways to make a million dollars because the smoothies are like $9 each and we need to be millionaires to be able to afford to buy them because that’s how maths works.
