How To Look As Gorgeous At The End Of The Night As You Did At The Beginning

Y

ou know how when you go to a party or a wedding and you look so freaking gorgeous at the beginning of the night but as time slips away and you’ve had one too many glasses of champagne, you end up looking like a photo that you really don’t want to be tagged in on Facebook? Yeah. That.

I once met a lady who refused to dance at a wedding because she didn’t want to get sweaty and ruin her hair. Fuck that! I love going out and cutting loose on the dance floor but I still don’t want to look like a total troll at the end of the night so I’ve popped together a little check list to keep you sorted. Here’s how to look as gorgeous at the end of the night as you did at the beginning…

Wear your hair up

No matter how good your hair is, if you sweat on it, it’s probably going to look like crap. Messy up-dos, glam ponytails, top knots and head bands will be your best friend when you’re partying hard.

Pack powder, blotting papers and concealer in your hand bag

If you’re looking a little on the messy side the best option is to patch up your make-up base. Give your face a quick press with blotting paper, lightly dust your t-zone with powder and dab some concealer on your trouble spots. Try not to re-apply mascara, eye-liner or blush as it might look cakey. Just do a quick clean and touch up and you’ll be looking fresh as a tipsy little daisy!

Skip the bright lipstick

Unless you want to duck to the toilet every half hour and perfectly re-apply your poppy pink pout, it’s best to stick to a lighter colour or a more manageable lip stain or gloss. I have a terrible track record with re-applying lipstick and I just end up with a feathery, chalky outline. Unless you’re a hardcore lipstick addict, it’s best to go in a more manageable direction for party lip colour.

Pack foldable flats

If you’re wearing heels and you know you won’t be able to last the whole night, pack some foldable flats in your bag. That way you’ll be able to exit your location limp-free and without grubby bare feet.

Go easy on the make-up in the first place

Try to avoid doing smoky eye make-up for a full day/evening event. Stale smokey eyes are the enemy of freshness. Try a nude shadow with a brown eyeliner pencil and a swipe of mascara. It will still look fresh hours later and you won’t end up with droopy panda eyes by the end of the night.

How does your face hold up on a big party night? Do you look decent? Or a bit like a zombie?

P.S Did you know there’s a Smaggle weekly newsletter? And a Smaggle Facebook page? You should get all up in both their faces. It’s totally worth it, I promise.
