Everyone Hates These Shoes… But I Love Them

M

any years ago when I graduated from my jewellery course, I bought myself a pair of Trippen shoes. Trippen is a German brand and their shoes perfectly reflect everything that is awesome about Germany. Straight forward, no bullshit, interesting, functional and unlike anything else.

I was recently in Germany and I thought it would be super rude not to buy another pair. I’ve had so much wear out of my first pair (you can see them here, here and here) and I thought I’d just have a bit of a gander if there were any shoes that took my fancy.

There were many, many shoes that took my fancy. All of them to be precise. I found these beauties at their outlet store. That’s right – a Trippen outlet store. I nearly fell over when I saw it.

The weird thing about Trippen shoes is that people like to tell me they don’t like them. It’s really weird but it seems to be a whole thing. It’s also usually close friends that tell me. They’ll be like ‘Oh I meant to tell you, I’m not a huge fan of those German shoes you like.’ I don’t really care what anyone thinks about my clothing but I find it so odd that these shoes cop the brunt of outfit judgement. I also love it when my friends are honest about my outfits but I have heaps weirder stuff in my wardrobe than Trippens… it’s an odd little thing isn’t it? My goal is to wear these babies in so I can walk in them all day. I find wooden soles very comfortable, I just have to soften the leather enough for every day wear. Wish me luck!

I’m having a rather lovely and productive week this week. I’m Oct-sobering so the weekend was spent drinking lots of tea and cooking nice things at home. I also hosted the first ever live lesson of Crochet Coach it was so much fun! Look at the amazing things my members are making.

Aren’t they incredible? If you’re keen to join the ranks of the Crochet Coach crew you can join here. The next live lesson is going to be Christmas decorations so don’t miss out if you’re looking to do something gorgeous for Christmas this year.

I’ve also had a few requests for some more recommendations so I’d thought I’d include a round up each week of stuff I like…

WatchingMr Robot. It’s so good. Very creepy. Love it.

ListeningTo Sword and Scale. It’s a podcast about gory stuff. I’m very bleak but this stuff keeps me sane when I’m doing stuff like cleaning the house.

ReadingAngels of Death by Emily Webb. It’s about medical practitioners who kill their patients. Maybe I’ve missed my calling as a true crime writer. I cannot get enough of this stuff.

Crocheting – Scarves! All the scarves. I’m putting together a beginner section for Crochet Coach so I’m slamming through them.

Eating – Boiled eggs. Mr Smaggle has perfected the art of boiling them so they peel well and I have one before the gym every morning. Eggs are the best.

What have you been up to this week? What are you watching, reading and eating?
