Very Excellent Habits

How to Get Dressed When You Have No Effing Idea What The Weather Is Doing.

I’m a Melbourne gal so I’m more than used to being slightly uncomfortable when it comes to temperature. Most of the time actually. I’ll be freezing cold so I’ll rug up and then the sun will come out so I’ll strip off. Then I get rained on. Then it gets windy. The list goes on. I always struggle towards the end of winter so I’ve come with a little system of coping when the weather goes a bit crazy.

* Thrifted white linen shirt from Savers in Brunswick (also seen here and here and here) * Metalicus cowl neck tank dress (seen here) * Waist tie from a different Metalicus dress * Mesh cardigan from eBay * Striped tights from Big W * Boots from Redpath’s in Canberra * Stirling silver bangles and bracelets from India and gifts from Mama Smaggle * Dinosaur Designs bangle * Ring from Mr Smaggle from a South Yarra gallery * Sunglasses from Myer * Earrings from India * Wallet by Nancy Bird *

Dress In Very Sheer Layers

The sun was shining brightly when I left the house early this morning so I wore thin tights, a light linen top and a very sheer cardigan. Still warm enough to stop the minor morning chill but cool enough so I didn’t melt when the sun came out. It’s all about the thin layers.

Work On The Assumption That You’re Going To Ditch Your Tights

On some Melbourne days you can wake up and it’s 5 degrees and by the afternoon it’s pushing 21 degrees and you end up wishing you were wearing a little summer frock. When the weather starts doing this I always make sure I’m comfortable enough in my dress that I can ditch my tights if it gets a little too warm and not be concerned that passers by can snatch a glance at my tight-less upper thighs and hoo-ha on the street.

Scarves Are Key

I always have a scarf packed in my bag. They’re perfect to throw around your neck, wrap around your shoulders when you get a little chilly or to cover your hair do when it inevitably starts to rain.

This outfit was worn for a slow wander around the streets with  Mr Smaggle, cooking gluten free hotdogs complete with tomato sauce and mustard, watching too many episodes of Orange is the New Black and drinking wine and skyping with my girl in NZ.
