Doing Silly Things For A Bus
Hello petals! I’ve been working on something pretty massive for the last few months and I’m finally able to launch it today.
I’ve created a Kickstarter project to raise money for a bus for Waratah Special Developmental School where I’ve been casually teaching (on the side of my blogging and writing career!) for about 5 years.
I didn’t just want to ask people for money though (boring!) so I came up with the idea of doing silly things in exchange for pledges. Basically if you donate money, I’ll do something silly on camera and dedicate it to you.
My aim is to raise $5000 by the end of September but anything more than that would be brilliant.
So if you want video evidence of me doing such silly things as…
Asking a stranger in the supermarket if a box of cereal is ‘ripe’
Eating a tin of spaghetti with my hands
Performing the Single Ladies Dance in public
Having a conversation with someone entirely in spoken song lyrics
Having a tea party with a cat
Wearing bread shoes in public
Faking a marriage proposal over the loud speaker at a department store
Singing a loud song while waiting for my coffee and singing until I get my coffee
Having a conversation with someone in a fake accent
Singing the national anthem on a tram with my hand over my heart
then…

What silly things would you like to see me do?

Oh your pledge just came through – thank you so much! Yes Ekina is EXTREMELY huggable like a little koala. She’s very sweet but also very bossy – she’ll totally let you know if you’re annoying her! 🙂

She not only looks like my daughter, but sounds like her too!! Sweet looking, but fierce :o)

Totally! At this stage Ekina is non-verbal but she knows how to give you a cranky little growl. I also love her because she thinks farts are hilarious. We’re kindred spirits.

Thank you so much for your donation and you can totally have Single Ladies. It’s all yours love. I’m thinking outside the supermarket would be a good idea… high humiliation factor. 🙂

What a fantastic way to raise funds, raise awareness and have a giggle. Good on you Carly. I just donated and would like to cast my vote for the Unicorn via Ice Cream Cone Moment. Because I’ve always wanted to do that [come on who hasn’t!].

Thank you so much for your super generous donation! The unicorn one has already been taken by Kate from dropdeadgorgeousdaily.com BUT you can pick another! I think Beyoncé and Cat Picnic are also taken. 🙂

Awesome! I teach too and I know how under-resourced some of our schools can be. I’m sure you’ll get your bus!
