Pointy toed shoes elude me. Different shades of denim come in and out of style yet you’ll always see classic blue amongst the trendy dark washes no matter what fashion is dictating. This doesn’t seem to translate to the pointy toed shoe. I would say that pointy toed shoes have hit a peak of popularity twice in my adult life. In 2001 and again in 2004. Where do they go when they aren’t in fashion? It seems that you can’t even purchase a pointy shoe unless Corinne Roitfeld wore them at fashion week that year.

Can I get a consensus? Do you prefer a pointy or round toed heel? Do you suffer through out the seasons when pointy shoes are on the ban list? Or do you not even notice until they hit the shelves again?

Would love to hear your thoughts on this. I am rather perplexed about this issue.

Love

Carly

All about the round or almond toe. I'm even partial to a slight square, but no hard-points and no hard-squares.

I'm a round toe fan and would say 98% of my shoes and boots are rounded. I do remember when pointy shoes were the hight of fashion and owned a few pairs. Looking back at those shoes they look quite harsh now and dated, where the rounded toes seem to have weather the fashion fall outs better.

I am a lover of pointy toes, always have been always will be! 🙂

I always worry my toes will get squished so I’ve never even tried a pointy shoe. Therefore, my vote hoes to the round shoe. If only for practicality’s sake.

I HATE pointy-toed shoes! They do squish your toes. They give such an aggro look to poor toes, not to mention the horrors of toe cleavage. Seriously, is that something you want to see on the average person? Squished together toes? It's not good for them! I like round toes for everyday and square toes for sass (which are often harder to find than pointy). This is assuming I'm wearing heels, of course, and not some other kind of shoe!

Although a few pointy toes have crept into my collection, I'm a round-toe girl at heart!

depends how the shoe feels mostly. i love my kennethcole round/almond toes and my pointy "buiness casual" heels. i tried to buy a pair of pointy mules once..but the toe cleavage and the kitten heel were just too weird.

I am a complete and utter round toed shoe fan. Absolutely. I did own pointy shoes at one point – might have been the 2001 invasion, but I have to say that I would not don a pair now. Round toes are much more classic and vintage and just much more my style.

Round, just because it fits in with my style more. I don't even notice when or when not pointy toes go on and off shelves.

I vote almond or slight-square; round toes make me feel like a dumpy cartoon character.

I love both pointy and round toe styles but my favourite is always peep toe. I do miss the ballerina toe that was around last year though – always meant to buy a pair but never got around to it.

Round toes all the way! I think pointy shoes are ugly and way too harsh – they remind me always of witches and evil women, and at the same time kind of elvish maybe? I'm always amazed when I see them back in style.

I've owned only one pair of pointy-toe shoes, and they didn't last long. They don't fit my feet right, and make my feet look about 10-yards long. I'm all about the round-toe. They make my feet look cute and tiny – the way I like 'em!

I don't mind a slight pointy toe (especially on a stiletto) but too pointy and it makes women's feet look monsterously long! It was really hard to find round toed shoes in 2004..

Nah, never liked the pointy-toed dealios. I'm a round-toed girl all the way! xx

love, love love the points. i miss seeing them round everywhere too.

I can't stand pointy-toed shoes. They squish my feet and make them look disproportionately long. I have very small feet (I still wear kids shoes) and prefer rounded- or squarish-toed shoes.

Can I hear an amen for pointy toes high heeled shoes? LOVE them! And one for round toe flats.

It really depends on 2 factors:

1 Foot size – no one wants to see Ronald Mcdonald floppin’ around with an extra inch of point. Hard to do, painful to watch and if you get grazed in YOUR heel by one of those bad boys- unnnnnncomfortable.

2 Leg/ no leg – pants and pointies- yes! skirt and pointies- not unless your forced into them as a bridesmaid ( its tradition ladies)

Almond or round toe are always in style for me. I just don't find pointies comfortable! And they also scuff far too fast at the point…

    Hi carly,

I would have to say that the pointy shoes are still within my fashion guidelines I absolutely love them! Not a fan of the round toe shoes, however I wouldn’t eliminate them fully hehe.

My favorite heels are pointy black and oh so sexy. I didn’t realize that they come in and out, because I feel like they are so classy and I see so many people wearing them. I do love a cute round toe that will make me feet look itty bitty though.

I’m a pointy girl, through and through!

  24. Anneliese 16 years ago

Round toes! I have kind of big feet – ew – and don’t want them to look any bigger. And for some reason I see round-toed shoes as classier…not sure why 😛

I personally dislike most pointy-heeled shoes, namely the ones that look like this

But I do like them on a platform

I am not a fan of pointed toe shoes. I accidentally bought a pair of pointed toe boots. My husband said he liked them and I wore them out one night. Even though I got many compliments on my boots, they did not grow on me. I am a rounded toe shoe.

I prefer pointy toe they look great with jeans and suits

I used to like pointy toe shoes and boots… until my husbands disgusting boot fetish ruined them for me. Now I can’t even look at pointy toe shoes or any kind of boot higher than ankle. I feel physically sick.
