7 Mother’s Day Gifts That Even The Fussiest of Mums Will Love.

Mama Smaggle is the fussiest woman on the planet. For her birthday one year, my father let me loose in The Body Shop to make a gift pack for her. Being seven years old I pretty much picked anything that was purple, including an awesome sponge shaped like a bunch of grapes. I’ll admit it wasn’t the most appropriate choice for a 40-year-old, a fact I’ve been reminded of yearly since The unfortunate Present Incident. Any time my mother gets given a crappy free USB or branded baseball cap she’ll snort and say ‘Well, at least it’s not a purple grape sponge!‘. I bought her ONE SHIT PRESENT when I was seven years old and I’ve never lived it down. I take present buying for my mother very seriously. I’ve been cruising the interwebs looking for gifts for Queen Fussy Pants and I managed to find a few that might not get me disowned from the family.

Simpatico Bubble Bath $49.00 from Table Tonic

Alkoomi Pure Gold Perfume Oil $75.00 from The Organic Beauty Shop

Sand and Nut Brown Clutch $99 from Hunting for George

Gucci Sunglasses $172.95 from Vision Direct

Gali Tote Bag in Tan  $179.60 from Coco Kitten

Voluspa Candle $29.95 from Kliens Perfumery

Watch $119.00 from We Wood

Aromatherapy Starter Kit $119.00 Twenty8

It’s getting harder as I get older to buy physical gifts for my mother. She pretty much buys anything that she needs so I’ve fallen into a pattern of buying her a Voluspa candle every year. That gets a touch tiresome so here are a few other non-gifty gifts that a hard to buy for mum will love.

Non-Gift Gifts For Mums

Take your mother to a fancy high tea with champagne and cucumber sandwiches.

Buy tickets to a local theatre show and take her on a date. My last two gifts to Mama Smaggle were theatre dates and she was suitably chuffed at both.

Give her an IOU for a lunch and movie outing on a weekend of her choice.

Take her for a pedicure followed by coffee and cake.

Cook your ma a delicious gourmet dinner with matching wines and a fancy dessert.

At the very least any of these suggestions will be better than a purple grape sponge.

Tell me… what’s the best mother’s day gift you’ve given? Or received?

And for those brave mothers… what’s the worst gift you’ve ever received?
