f you’ve been reading Smaggle for a while you’ll know that I’m a salad fiend. (You’ll also know that I bloody love giveaways so stay tuned to see how you can win!) I even have a hashtag on Instagram – #smagglesalads. I have a salad for lunch almost every day (I usually stick to 300 calorie salad recipes), even if it’s a lame salad like a tin of tuna dumped on some lettuce if I’ve been lazy and haven’t shopped for a week.

As far as I’m concerned, the best part of any meal is the dressing or sauce. I LOVE dressing and sauce. Sweet chilli sauce, Italian salad dressing, BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, soy sauce, mustard dressing – I freaking love dressing and sauce. My brother-in-law calls me Saucy Minx because I pretty much don’t eat anything without adding some kind of liquid condiment to it.

There is a major problem with my saucy-love though, because if I go pouring a few tablespoons of full fat dressing over a healthy salad, I can quickly turn it into a giant bowl of excess calories and fat. I’ve been a low-fat dressing gal for years and Praise has just released a new range called Zero that I actually already had an almost depleted bottle of in my fridge when they approached me for a collaboration. Match made in heaven right?

Some people are a bit weird about low-fat salad dressings, making the very valid point that fat is good and I totally agree, fat is grand! I would just prefer to get my essential fat fix in the form of food, like cheese or nuts. If someone offered me a hunk of brie cheese or a teaspoon of olive oil, I definitely know which one I’d be going for. If you choose a sensible dressing you can afford to have yummier things like avocado and cheese. Delish! Here are my top 3 simple salads that I’ve been eating recently. The grilled veggie one is delicious eaten cold the next day.
